American Football (Poems)

Cloud of dust
running back
in the end zone

Out route
quarterback
doesn’t see
lurking defender

Press coverage
beaten
cornerback
thanks
defensive end

Three step drop
slant route
hit in stride

Hole opens
linebacker
blocks out daylight

Fade route
time to throw
touchdown

Pump fake
blitzing safety
pays no attention

Back shoulder throw
cornerback irrelevant

Left guard
slides over
ensuring extra second

Overload blitz
quarterback
guesses wrong side

~~~
Season starts soon. WHO DAT! WHO DAT! WHO DAT DEY SAY GONNA BEAT DEM SAINTS!
    Haha, you talking gridirons now!!!!! LA is getting a team again. It’s been a good long while for us. But crazier than bones crunching and concussions are those fans. Man it’s not just the big finger, it’s face painting, outfit wearing, crazy excitement touchdowns. That and those ridiculous hot dogs and beer.
    • Oh I’d love to go to a football game. Watching Drew Brees live would be aces. Right now its the only sport I bother with.
      Apprently, either the Chargers or the Raiders are favourites to move to LA. So its either them wonderful powder blues, or the black hole. That Chargers jersey is nice.
        If you get good seats and are away from the jerks, it could be fun. 😀
        Here’s a fun fact, or maybe not, but the LA gangs used to wear Raiders clothes when the team was here, back in the day (like the 90s), but when they transferred over to Oakland the bangers went with the Dodgers. It’s like they felt abandoned and needed to quickly find a new friend. Even cholos have feelings too.
