Light Speed (Poems)

It all starts with co-ordinates
calculations for the jump.

Revolutions of the die banished by automated signals
left to ossify in the yawning maw of the stellar regions.

Electronic game of tag between computers
and engines renders a path through dark matter trenches.

Powder blue thrust steams from the exhaust,
the stars unfurl, azure strings of celestial infinity.

One side of the universe to the other
mere seconds of separation.

Cosmological majesty
clouded in a haze of light speed motion.

of scarred titanium and maimed panels

from asteroid to asteroid

elusion of empyrean hulks

into the infinite atramentous yonder

vents afterburners azure

the very fabric of the cosmos

Time recedes to a nether point
the stars dilate
azure flash
dims instantly
the craft strakes
through the ocean of emptiness
