Yuki Onna

A frozen corpse
rests on
white azure
yet all around
ten thousand snow flakes undisturbed.

A frozen corpse on an azure tundra,
face blanketed by an absent gasp.

In all directions ten thousand snow flakes
have escaped the attention of footprints.

With fresh snow here today this one really speaks to me.

  4. I especially love “face blanketed by an absent gasp.” Perfect interplay of what’s there and what’s not.
