My dear friend, how funny that you have been thinking of kitsune. I had an odd experience on late night driving home. Now some of this may be attributed to my lack of sleep, but a lot of it to my overactive imagination. I was driving through a very dark residential area when I passed by a fox who darted passed my car. I wasn’t expecting the little guy so it surprised me. I am not sure what I why I thought to stop the car and open the window. I was curious, he must have been too because I could see in my rear view his silhouette poised. When I opened the window I heard this bizarre screaming hiss (does that make sense). This spooked me, I rolled up the window and got of there as fast as I could. Now my imagination drew up this fox transforming into this giant beast which would take up the night sky. (I actually thought it would be an interesting premise for a story)
But your foxes seem quite refined, elegant, but better not to mess with them lest they transform. Actually, maybe it’s a good rule of them to not mess with a night precession, who knows what their reaction may be, and you don’t want to be part of the oden.
You know, your not that far off. If you do find the time to write again, do it. Tis a great idea.
And yes, it’s advised not to mess with kitsunes. They can be a bit vengeful in certain circumstances.
I am thinking I want to do some sort of creative writing. I have a couple of ideas, and if my talented friend thinks I should give it a go, then it gives me a bit of courage to dip my toes.
I have been having a couple of yokai like experiences, an owl made my acquaintance a few nights ago. The universe may be telling me something.

Yokai are supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore. And I just have fun writing poems about them. Hence, Yokai orientated fun.
